On March 14, 2020 the Australian Christian Lobby will be sending out their new “permanent standing army” of nasty pasties out to letterbox the electorate of Boothby with hate-speech about abortion. The seat encompasses the suburbs of;

  • Clarence Gardens
  • Urrbrae
  • Marino
  • Belair
  • Blackwood
  • Brighton,
  • Daw Park
  • Eden Hills
  • Marion
  • Mitcham
  • Seacliff
  • St Marys
  • Panorama
  • Part of Happy Valley

The group, brought together by their hatred of gays, women’s rights, and anyone with a different opinion to their own; make it their mission to in life to “bring a Christian influence to politics” and ” see Christian principles and ethics accepted and influencing the way we are governed, do business and relate as a society”.

To be clear, this is not the “treat others as you wish to be treated” or the “he who is without sin may cast the first stone” Christianity; this is the “do as we say or burn in hell” and “give us $500,000 to spread the hate” type Christianity.

Having failed in their campaign to prevent Same-Sex Marriage from coming into law, they are now focused on spreading lies and mis-truths about the safety, need, and purpose of abortion both in South Australia, where it is soon scheduled to be debated and fully decriminalised, and more widely throughout the nation.

The utter-turds will certainly be less than tactful in their hate-pamphlets. We expect nothing less from the people who “want to start a conversation” about abortion without any intention of actually hearing or valuing any opposing arguments.

In 2002 there were 5,147 medical abortions performed in South Australia, and an estimated 82,000 nationally. These were performed on women aged 15-44 and all in safe and supportive environments. With reproductive self-determination a major pillar of women’s rights and equality, retaining and strengthening the right of women to chose the outcome of a pregnancy is vital.
